Brigade patrol troop

RM and certain other "specialist" units of the British Forces have been using M-16s for years, I believe I'm correct in saying that they were in fact the first military users of the rifle. At the time the standard issue weapon to British Forces was the L1A1 SLR, the UK version of the FN FAL which was, I believe, considered to be rather unwieldy for certain applications. When the SA80 came along, the 16's were retained by those units which had trained on them, possibly due to the poor initial performance of the new weapon. A2's and C7's were ordered and delivered as the very aged early weapons were withdrawn due to wear. I've seen some very odd combinations of parts on British issued M16's spanning the entire time line of the design in one weapon :o)

The HK53's I'm not entirely sure about, at least in RM service. I know that they were adopted in N.I. by units who travelled in helos or covert vehicles as they were reckoned to offer the best compromise between firepower and size. This followed a number of contacts in which such units found themselves heavily outgunned, having largely been reliant upon SMGs and and sidearms up until the adoption of the "Hocklers".

The fact that both the M16 & HK53 remain in service despite the introduction of the SA80, which would appear to offer similar the same advantages, is, I fear an indication of the lack of regard for the weapon amongst those units considered "mature" enough to select their own arms.

Ceci est une simple proposition de kit list vu parmis les brigade patrol troop. Ils existent surement d'autres possibilités, mais je me suis basé que sur des photos trouvées.

Donc le débat ensuite C7 ou C7A1 ?? (flat top= upper avec le rail).
Le C7 a été utilisé car le L85 A1 n'était pas fiable. Il ne fut amélioré qu'en 2000 par H&K. Le C7A1 quant à lui a été produit en 1986 et a donc put être utilisé en attendant l'amélioration du l85 en A2. (photos manquantes ...)
